Nairobi (KON) - At least 370 people have been killed and over 1,075 others injured in terrorist attacks since October 2011 when Kenya took the war against terror to the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab terror group in Somalia, according to an analysis of reports by The Standard.

Special operations forces had been assisting local units for several years in battling al-Shabab, which is linked to al-Qaida. But shortly before leaving office, President Donald Trump ordered some 700 U.S. troops out of Somalia.
Until recently, Somalia was on an upward trajectory. Although it continued to struggle with piracy, famine, and terrorism, the country was turning the corner after decades of bloody civil war.
In March, the Kenyan government issued an ultimatum to the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR): Create a plan to close two camps that host more than 430,000 refugees, or we will forcibly expel them to their home countries immediately. However, refugees say forced repatriation is not a humane option.
