Al Shabab-Al Qaeda rebels attack Kenyan military convoy at border, kills 5 soldiers

KISMAAYU, Somalia (Keydmedia) The Al-Qaeda linked Al-shabab rebels have on Thursday launched an ambush attack against Kenyan Military convoy at Qoqani and Tabta villages in Lower Jubba Region of southwestern Somalia, inflicting heavy casualties on the army, residents say.

Witnesses confirmed to Keyedmedia English News that at least five soldiers were killed and eight others wounded, some seriously in the ambush attack by Al-shabab militias on the Kenyan army and destroyed three military trucks as they were traveling between Qoqani and Tabra areas, which are close to the fragile border.

Both Kenyan government and Somali warlord Gandi have made any comments about the attack so far.

Al-Shabab militias attack against Kenyan army convoy followed ICG statement that pointed out Kenyan intervention was illegal.

Al-Shabab is locked in a battle with the weak UN-back Transitional Federal Government (TFG) for control of the parts of the country which are currently outside its power, particularly the capital, Mogadishu.
