‘Mubarak’s ouster will of Egyptians’
Cairo (Keydmedia) - The Egyptian protestors in Liberation Square and all over the country demand the ouster of embattled Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, says the co-founder of Egypt's April 6th Youth Movement.
“The stand of all those people in Tahrir [Square] and elsewhere and all the protests all over the country is firm, no negotiation until Mr. Mubarak is out. Out of power, not out of the country,” Ahmed Salah, co-founder of April 6th Youth Movement, Cairo told Press TV in an exclusive interview on Tuesday.
“All these talks and negotiations and other things that are taking place are just simply an attempt by the regime to stall for time,” he added.
On Tuesday, protesters stepped up their battle to topple Mubarak's government as the popular revolution enters its 15th day.
A large crowd of protesters have reportedly marched on the Interior Ministry and parliament buildings in central Cairo and surrounded them for a while before returning to Liberation Square.
The demonstrations come despite the government's promise of constitutional reforms and an offer of pay rise to public sector workers.
“The issue about the regime of Egypt is very simple. It is a kleptocracy. It is the rule of the thieves. So, there are corrupt persons in the regime headed by Mr. Mubarak himself of course. They have been looting this country for decades,” Salah said, adding that even the rich people in Egypt are pro-revolution.
“Even the kind of wealthy people in the country are for the revolution. They are sick of all the corruption, the decay that had infected this country. Of course, all the poor people want their rights back,” he said.
“I have a broken nose but I can't put any bandages because of the thugs. I don't want to be singled out in the streets as a protester. I still have a rubber bullet in my head above my ear that I haven't removed yet. And I was lucky because the sniper who shot me shot me with a rubber bullet. Martyrs were not as lucky, they were shot with live ammunitions right to the head or to the chest, and they were martyred in Tahrir [Square] and other places.”
“The protesters have their own will and their will is nonviolent as everyone has seen,” Salah said.
Anti-American sentiment is high among the protesters who hold Washington responsible for President Mubarak's long grip on power.
“Unfortunately, the United States as well as all western powers have been complicit with Mr. Mubarak because they have been protecting Mr. Mubarak and his regime far too long,” he concluded.
