Somali Official killed in bomb attack
BAIDOA (KON)—A Deputy Commissioner was killed Thursday in a bombed hidden in small café in Goof-Gadud area, 28 Km away from Baidoa, the capital of Bay province, the latest in a string of bombings in the country,Keydmedia Online reports.
Eyewitnesses said a remote-controlled landmine exploded inside a teashop, where Abdullah Abdi Enow, the deputy commissioner of Gof-Gadud and his security guards were sipping a tea early on Thursday morning.
The bomb went off shortly after Somali official, along the government troops had arrived in the area, reports said.
Beside the death of the deputy commissioner of Gof-Gadud, at least three Government security personnel were wounded in the attack and rushed to a hospital in Baidoa, about 250 km to the southwest of Mogadishu.
In the aftermath of the blast, Somali Soldiers surrounded the scene and began shooting in the air. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, but the government usually blames al-Shabab fighters for similar violence.
Somalia has been gripped by Voilence which has killed and displaced a large number of people.
