20 Kenyan solders killed, 40 injured after Al-shabab attack at Badhadhe town

Kismayu (Keydmedia.net) - Nearly 20 Kenyan soldiers were killed and over 40 others wounded after Al-shabab rebel group attacked in mid last night on military bases in the town of Badhahde in Lower Jubba region of Somalia, reports said.

Reliable sources Keydmedia received from the town say the bloody offensive took place on the eastern outskirts of coast town of Badhahde after Al Shabaab insurgents launched ambush attack on the Kenyan bases adding that both sides increased the use of heavy artillery on each other as the fight intensified.

A senior Kenyan military commander in Badhadhe town whom was contacted by Keydmedia office in Kismayu via phone declined to talk about the casualties on their soldiers because he was not authorized to talk to the media and comment on the incident.

Mohamed Farah Dahir, a spokesman for Somali government confirmed to Keydmedia that he estimated more than two dozens of Kenyan soldiers to have been killed in the attack by Al-shabab rebels at villages nearby Badhahdhe town last night. It was also not immediately clear if Al Shabaab militias suffered casualties in the ambush attack.

This attack was the bloodiest one since Kenya began its military campaign against the rebels in southern Somalia after a series of cross-border raids by al Shabaab against targets on Kenyan soil, which threatened the east African nation\
