After two years of his presidency, HirShabelle leader names large cabinet

Six of the appointed members are women, two of them became Ministers, two deputies, and two state ministers. This is the largest number of ministers a regional state has ever had in Somalia.

JOWHAR, Somalia - The President of HirShabelle State of Somalia, Ali Abdullahi Hussein Guudlawe appointed his Cabinet on Sunday night after 20 months of his presidency.

The Cabinet consists of 81 members, including 27 Ministers, 27 Deputy Ministers, and 27 State Ministers, according to the statement released by the office of the regional presidents.

Six of the appointed members are women, two of them became Ministers, two deputies, and two state ministers. This is the largest number of ministers a regional state has ever had in Somalia.

Geelle Isak Warsame, who was named as State minister for Security, said he has resigned, without explaining why he refused the post. It seems he was not satisfied with the docket.

HirShabelle is one of the least-resourced of the five Federal States in Somalia with weak governance and leadership system and was established in 2016. It faces political disputes and conflicts.

The former president of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo was accused of dividing the country and creating an internal conflict within the regional administrations for his political gains.
