Ahlu Sunna fighters regain control of Dusamareb town

DHUSAMAREB, Somalia (Keydmedia) - The latest reports from central Somalia say that the pro-government militia Ahlu Sunna Wal Jama’a (ASWJ) have regained control of Dhusamareb town, forcing Al-Shabaab militants to run away the city.

Residents confirmed to Keydmedia English News via telephone that Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a fighters riding on pickup trucks with machine guns and rocket propelled grenades RPGs launched a counter-attack the town seizing control of it from Al-Qaeda-allied Islamist in Somalia.

“I can assure that the town is now under full control of Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a fighters after regrouping again on the outskirts of town early on Tuesday. Al-shabab insurgents took away privately owned vehicles and properties from their possessors during their short stay in the town,” a resident in Dhusamareb town told Keydmedia English News by phone.

The exact number of casualties involving both combatants and civilians during the wrestle is yet unknown, but is a strategic town in central Somali Galgadud region and links south and central the war- torn Horn of African country.
