Al-Shabaab carried out attacks in Mogadishu and Baidoa

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Al-Shabaab militants have carried out a series of deadly attacks in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu and Baidoa, the provincial capital of Bay region, south of the country in the past 24 hours.

According to the police, the first attack took place in Mogadishu, particularly in Kahda district, after a grenade attack on a police station that led to a heavy exchange of gunfire in the night.

Meanwhile, another grenade was hurled at the Boqoleyda intersection in Baidoa's Bardale neighborhood, where troops from the South West state were stationed.

Reports from the area say that two people were killed and five others were wounded in the attack, all of them innocent civilians.

The local security officials say that the police forces of the town are conducting search operations in the town this morning following the attack to arrest the culprits.
