MOGADISHU, Somalia - Al-Shabaab has displaced in Buq-aqable near Bul-Burde district in Hiran region nine alleged soldiers who they said were members of Somali military.
The group said most of the soldiers were operating in the Beledweyne and Jalalaqsi districts of the Hiran region in central Somalia which are under the HirShabelle administration.
Somali military has not yet commented on the defection of the soldiers to the terrorist group. The group's propaganda media outlets published pictures of the soldiers on social media.
The group has been waging a decade-long insurgency in Somalia to oust the UN-backed Somali government based in Mogadishu which is protected by the African Union [AU] troops.
