Al-shabab beheads a politician in south Somalia

KISMAAYU,Somalia (Keydmedia) – Witnesses in Somalia’s Afmadow town said Sunday that Al-Shabab rebels beheaded a senior politician over spying for a clan-based militia led by warlord Gandi in lower Jubba region, pro-Somalia and Kenyan forces.

Residents indicated that the execution was the latest by the Al-Qaeda linked insurgents in the town since they were pushed and defeated from power most of their fixed military bases in south Somalia.
 
“After monitoring, he was captured overnight by Al Shabab rebels as he was contacting via telephone with Gandi militia officials then his body cut off the head was found in the heart of Afmadow town this morning” a witness told Keydmedia English News by phone on condition of anonymity.
 
Furthermore, Keydmedia English News got in touch with Sheik Ibrahim Abu Sa’ad, Al-shabab militia leader in Afmadow town said the executed man, and his full name withheld had links and spying to pro-government Gandi militias on the outskirts of the town.
 
In the past years, after the militants have conquered key towns and swathes of the country, where they have carried out several whippings, amputations or executions of locals under their control.
