Al Shabaab claims AMISOM soldiers

Sheik Abdi-Aziz Abu Musab, Al shabab spokesman for the military operations, told on Friday a pro-rebel local FM station that dozens of AMISOM soldiers, primarily sera Leon contingent in a heavy fighting took place in Yurkud village of Gedo region.

“We can confirm today that several sera Leon soldiers serving under AMISOM were killed following a battle with Al shabab fighters in Yurkud on Thursday and we their IDs to verify our claim, said Abu Musab.

AU has recently dispatched its first peacekeeping troops, mainly soldiers from sera Leon in Somalia’s south-western regions to boost fighting against Al Qaeda-aligned Al shabab militants.
