Al shabab attacks on Somali-Kenyan military bases in Somalia

KISMAYO, Somalia (Keydmedia) - Heavily armed Al shabab fighters have mounted attacks on Somali and Kenyan forces inside Lower Jubba region of southern Somalia, killing at least three people and wounding ten others, Keydmedia reports.

According to locals the attack took place overnight at about on the outskirts of Afmadow town, former Al shabab stronghold before the coalition forces moved in last week after fled. Eyewitnesses said the situation has returned to normal this morning and the area remained under TFG and Kenyan control.

“Our troops allied with Kenyan army warded off an attack from Al shabab on bases near Afmadow town last night, inflicting heavy losses upon the Al shabab militants,” said TFG military commander whom Keydmedia Somali service contacted on the phone.

So far three Al shabab fighters were confirmed to have been killed and ten others injured during the attack occurred in the areas near Afmadow town controlled by Somali government forces.

Al shabab has not made any comments on the attack so far.
