Axmed Madobe orders his fighters to capture Afmadow town from Al shabab- KM Exclusive

KISMAYU, Somalia (Keydmedia) - Heavily armed fighters loyal to Sheik Ahmed Madobe, the leader of Raskamboni militias moved on Friday from Qoqani town to make advances towards Afmadow, a rebel-held strategic district in Lower Jubba region of southern Somalia, Keydmedia reports.

Residents in Qoqani town said these Somali forces backing with Kenyan military on mission to attack and capture more grounds and territories in the region, including the port town of Kismayu, 500 Km away south of Mogadishu from Al shabab rebels tied with Al Qaeda.

“Many heavily armed fighters loyal to Sheik Ahmed Madobe, with several military vehicles mounted with machine-guns, have moved on the way to our town early this morning unopposed, said a resident in Afmadow who spoke with Keydmedia Somali by phone on condition of anonymity.

The latest news updates from Lower Jubba region suggest that there is tense of fighting in the town of Afmadow where the insurgents are intensifying their grip and defensive drills on the outskirts of the town to protect the attacking allied forces.

Sources say Afmadow , 620 km south of the capital Mogadishu is planned to hold a major conference after falling to the hand of Somali forces and Kenyan army.

On 21 November 2009, the Islamist Al-Shabab militia took control of Afmadow, causing hundreds of Somali families and also western aid workers to flee in fear of violence.
