Barrels of nuclear and other toxic waste dumped on Somalia’s coast (past days)

Residents in Hobyo district of Mudug region in central Somalia said that the people close to the ashore have seen past days barrels of nuclear and other toxic waste which is thought Italian ships brought there.

“Three containers of toxic have been seen in the ashore of Hobyo” one of Hobyo resident said to keydmedia.

The toxic damaged sea resource and the environment, and the waves of the sea washed up dead fish after the toxic impacted, the resident added.

Since the containers came ashore, hundreds of residents have fallen ill, suffering from mouth and abdominal bleeding, skin infections and other ailments.

Some report says Italian ships have dumped the nuclear and other toxic waste in the area after agreement with Puntiland and Galmudug administrations.

Residents in Mudug, Nugal & Bari regions concern the disaster of the toxic and called international community to stop bring toxic to Somali ashore.
