Body of Former President of Somalia Abdullahi Yusuf arrives in Mogadishu then Galka’yo

MOGADISHU, Somalia (Keydmedia)- A small plane carrying the body of the late president of Somalia Abdullahi Yusuf who on Friday passed away in the United Arab Emirates of pneumonia complications has arrived at the Aden Adde International airport in The capital Mogadishu, Keydmedia reports.

Some Somali Government top officials took part in the funeral prayers the body of Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed that held inside the airport with other foreign dignitaries, including ambassadors, after the prayers he was flown to Galka’ayo town, 750 Km away north of Mogadishu, central Somalia for burial.

Former President of Somalia Col. Abdullahi Yusuf will be laid to rest in his hometown Galka’yo, the capital of Mudug region in central Somalia on Sunday. He was 78.

Mr.Yusuf served as president of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia from 2004-2008.until he was forced into exile, he was granted asylum in Yemen where he was living for four years.

He has suffered chronic health problems for years, including a liver transplant in 1996. In 2006, he survived a suicide car bombing that killed his brother and several bodyguards, one of several assassination attempts
