Hundreds of protesters gathered in a rally in Mogadishu and marched the important streets in the capital, all the protesters have been chanting “we don’t want mercenaries, we don’t want the decision of president and parliamentary speaker, and we want justice and the prime minister not to resign’.
Meanwhile, in a press conference, Sheikh Sharif Hasan Sheikh Ahmed, Somali president criticized the demonstrations and defended the decisions of Kampala meeting.
“Kampala agreement is an important for Somalis, we met there (Kampala) to survive Somalia, and after long discussion, we recognized that Somali parliament and cabinet could not work together the flowing year, and we collectively persuaded the PM to resign,” Sheikh Sharif said.
Somalia cabinet yesterday announced that Somali parliament must vote on PM’s dismissal.
After discussing issues in the Kampala accord, the cabinet members decided the accord must be sent to parliament for endorsement," the cabinet said in a statement.
