Farmajo and Fahad sued in International Criminal Court

NAIROBI, Kenya – A former Jubaland official says he has filed a lawsuit against the Somali president and other top close allies, including his national security advisor Fahad Yasin in the ICC.

Speaking to the media in Nairobi, Abdullahi Mohamed Nur alias [Nasri] said the International Criminal Court has received copies of his case against Farmajo, Fahad Yasin, and Yasin Farey.

Nasri fell victim to Farmajo and his team in charge of NISA leadership after he was subjected to arduous torture during his illegal detention in the notorious Godka Jilacow prison in Mogadishu.

I filed my case with the ICC and expect justice will be served,' said the ex-security official.

He said Fahad and Yasin Farey, who is currently serving as acting NISA director along with the state minister for public works Abdirahman Dhere were responsible for his arrest in the capital.

Nasri served two months in the NISA jail in 2019, where he faced torture as a result of his rejection to carry out a plot by Villa Somalia to assassinate Jubaland president Ahmed Madobe.

He added that he alerted his case to western diplomatic missions in Mogadishu to assist him to get legal action against the top Somali government officials accused of the alleged abuses.

Kulane Jiis, who was recently elected as MP, Ibrahim Moalim, and Ahmed Arab, who are senior intelligence officials have appeared in the lawsuit filed in the Hague-based UN top court.

In September last year, the family of Ikran Tahlil, a female intelligence agent who reportedly abducted and killed sued Fahad Yasin, Yasin Farey, Kulane Jiis and other two NISA senior officials in the country's military court for the murder of the 25-year-old girl.
