Farmajo insists he has ‘complete power’ to appoint NISA director

MOGADISHU, Somalia - The outgoing Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has insisted he has the "complete power" to appoint NISA head amid ongoing mediation to resolve a standoff with prime minister Roble.

Sources within Villa Somalia revealed to Keydmedia English that the arbitration team led by Qoor-Qoor and Mursal are said to be putting the most pressure on Roble after Farmajo refused to compromise.

The PM who is in charge of the election and security accused Farmajo of cover-up and hindering efforts by his office to find justice for Ikran Tahlil, the NISA’s cybersecurity expert who was killed by her bosses.

Farmajo set stiff pre-conditions for face-to-face talks with the premier, including the moval of Bashir Gobe from NISA to another office and the replacement of the security minister Abdullahi Mohamed Nur.

The term-ended president is defiant amid calls for an end to the deadlock from the international community with the UN security council warning the tug of war could derail the election and the war on Al-Shabaab.

Farmajo, according to the sources doesn’t want to lose NISA control as the spy agency holds classified information about thousands of youths sent by his administration to Eritrea 2019-2020 for training who never come back home.
