Former NISA Chief escapes unharmed from shooting

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Former Chief of NISA, General Abdirahman Turyare has escaped a deliberate fire by the Somali security forces on his car around Mirinayo Junction in Mogadishu's Abdiaziz District.

Speaking to reporters, Turyare has described the incident as a planned plot aimed to assassinate him by unnamed government officials using the SNA's newly formed Diifaan unit.

“It was really a very unfortunate and irresponsible incident that happens in the country at a critical time," he added. The ex-NISA boss called for an investigation into the attack and to bring those behind to justice.

Turyare was reported to have been heading to the house of former President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in the area at the time of the shooting which comes amid a large presence with armed vehicles in the area.

Farmajo whose term expired last February continues to try to silence his critics in the capital and the press freedom as the country is facing security challenges and political crisis.
