Former Mogadishu mayor is set free from jail

Mogadishu (Keydmedia) - Mohamed Omar Habeeb, former Mogadishu mayor has been freed from jail in Mogadishu after 40 days of captivity.

Hashi Ilmi Nor, the governor of Banadir region’s court announced that   ex-Mogadishu mayor, who was accused of conspiring killing of at least five civilians in Mogadishu, is innocent.

Mohamed Omar Habeeb (known as Mahamed Dheere) appeared in front of Banadir region’s court earlier on Sunday his first time since he was jailed, but the prosecutor said no evidence document showing Mahamed Dheere as criminal was delivered.

AMISOM troops in Mogadishu arrested Mahamed Dhere in February after he was accused he was mastermind of apparent massacre in Mogadishu fifteen of February this year.

February 15, at least five people were killed and more than were injured after Somali military uniform dressed men opened fire hundreds of people who gathered to demonstrate peacefully.
