Gunmen kill a prominent dermatologist in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Unknown gunmen have shot and killed Dr. Hassan Osman Iise alias (Buurane) in Al-Baraka village of Hodan district in the Somali capital on Thursday morning.

The slain doctor who was a renowned and respected Dermatologist has been killed by pistol-wielding two men in the vicinity of Bar Ceynu-Shamci where he runs his clinic.

Unknown gunmen, however, shot him dead and managed to escape from the scene with so far, no clue at all the reason behind his murder.

He was one of the few medical practitioners who remained in the country during the civil war for the last three decades to help those in need of his service.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the murder and police didn't release any statement on the case as it is still under investigation.

Mogadishu has witnessed attacks and killings targeted district officials in the past weeks amidst tight security measures in place since the start of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
