Eyewitnesses told Keydmedia Somalia News by phone that the battle erupted at dawn this morning after heavily armed Somali and Kenyan military attacked on Mudale village, a rebel-held area which is just 50 Km away from Bardere town in Gedo province. No casualties reported so far.

Kenyan fighter jets are reportedly taking part in the battle by air attacks that TFG forces and its allied army are struggling to capture from the rebels of Al-shabab.

Locals say the situation is tense and both sides are using heavy and slight weapons that sparked residents fear and anxiety. This fighting is the fiercest that the region has seen in weeks. Some reports suggest that Al-shabab insurgents vacated from their bases in Bardere town, however this reports could no be independently verify.

Keydmedia Somali made contacts with Somali government troop officers for comments on the fighting, but failed because of the poor phone lines in the Gedo region.
