Kenyan soldiers killed in a cross-border attack by Al-Shabaab

Kenyan has suffered deadly attacks since it sent troops to Somalia in 2011.

MOGADISHU, Somalia - At least two Kenyan soldiers were killed and several wounded in an ambush attack on the outskirts of a key town near the porous border with Somalia on Saturday.

Al-Shabaab said in a statement that its fighters engaged in a fierce gun battle with Kenyan troops following an assault against a military convoy traveling in the vicinity of Mandera city.

Meanwhile, the Kenyan military has strongly denied the group's claims, says the terrorist attack was successfully repulsed and no casualties on the KDF have resulted.

Since Kenya sent troops to Somalia in 2011, the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab militants in Somalia carried out across the border raids in the East African nation, killing dozens of soldiers and civilians.

The KDF forces who are serving under AU mission [AMISOM] face accusations of committing human rights violations and atrocities in Somalia, a country that has been lack of a strong functioning government for three decades. 

Last week, the Kenyan warplanes bombed residential areas in El-Adde and other villages in the Gedo region and killed innocent civilians, including the mother and her children.
