MOGADISHU, Somalia - Raychelle Omamo, the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Kenya is set to pay a visit to Somalia on Sunday, diplomatic sources said.

Her visit comes as a diplomatic relationship between the two neighboring countries that was restored last May through Qatar mediation following six months of absence.

Omamo visits Mogadishu at the invitation of her Somali counterpart Mohamed Abdirizak with reports that she will hold a meeting with the country’s PM Mohamed Hussein Roble.

The PM will be traveling to Kenya on Tuesday, August 9 for bilateral talks with Uhuru whose ties with Farmajo has strained last year over Jubaland interference.

Kenya has been making efforts to resolve the maritime boundary dispute with Somalia out of the International Court of Justice [ICJ], which heard the case last March and is expected to issue a final decision in the coming months.

The Horn of Africa country has deployed 4,000 combat troops to Somalia in 2011 to fight against Al-Shabaab, joining AU forces trying to restore peace and stability in the nation.
