Landmine Blast rocks a central prison in Galka’yo town

The blast destroyed a car carrying the head of Puntland army operation Lieutenant Colonel Muse Ahmed Abdirahman known as ‘Muse Hasasi’ killing one bodyguard in the vehicle, injuring two, the driver and a nearby civilian.

“The explosion happened near the central prison of Puntland state in the area. I could see the remains of the car destroyed in the blast and the body of at least one guard for the senior security official,” a witness told Keydmedia English News by phone.

Another witness who requested anonymity confirmed “the explosion was very strong and it destroyed part of the compound’s wall.”.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Nevertheless, there has been a significant rise of murder cases against officials and aid workers in the region over the last few months.
