Military offensive against Al shabab beyond Mogadishu enters second day

MOGADISHU. Somalia (Keydmedia) - Somali government forces backed by African Union carrying tanks have seized most of the residential areas in Afgoye corridor, including Elasha Biyaha, Arbiska, Lafooleh, and other places, Keydmedia reports.

The troops have fought for hours against the Al shabab militants who controlled in these areas for the past several years, residents in the outskirt, have told Keydmedia English News correspondent that the situation is still worse and fighting is yet continued in the area.

Many people are fleeing from this area seeking a refuge in Mogadishu the capital of Somalia, Al shabab fighters did not yet speak about the second day of offensive by the African Union forces and government troops who are capturing for the Al  Shabab controlled areas in outskirt of the capital Mogadishu. 

Civilian casualties are being reported in the fighting as some of the people being surrounded by the violence since they are not able to escape the violence. 

Government officials also did not commented about the second day offensive which they called free Shebelle.
