Most of Bakaara Market Fell Into the TFG Hands

Mogadishu (Keydmedia) - The interim federal government of Somalia on Sunday proclaimed that most of Mogadishu's largest and busiest market of Bakaara fell into their hands after fierce clashes with Al shabaab fighters.

Speaking at a joint news conference held in Mogadishu, Abdihakim Hajji Mohamoud Fiqi, the minister of defense and Abdishakur Hassan Farah, the minister of interior and home security noted that the government is close to dislodge al shabaab fighters from the Bakaara market completely.

He defense minister told reporters their forces backed militarily by Amisom had fully taken over Wadnaha Road, a crucial route at south of Bakaara, where it used to be a stronghold of the group.

He said that they will protect the security of the properties in the market belonging to Somali traders.

Also, the minister interior and home security, Mr. Farah said they have prepared special forces to keep and assure the security of the market, adding that there would be any looting in it.
