Palestine reopens its embassy in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU (Keydmedia) - The Palestinian Authority has appointed a new ambassador to Somalia, the first middle east country to re-establish diplomatic relations in the war-torn horn of Africa country for 21 years, Keydmedia reports.

Kamil Abdallah, the new ambassador, has on Sunday handed over his credential letters to Somalia President Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed during  talks at the state house in Mogadishu, and he pledged to restore the bilateral diplomatic relations of Somalia and Palestine.

Mr. Abdallah, also passed on to somali President Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed a special message from the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas. The diplomat expressed support for President Sharif Sheik Ahmed’s government and urged other Arab nations to follow Palestine’s lead.
