Planes Fly over a Stronghold southern Somalia town, Rebels Flee

KISMAAYU, Somalia (Keydmedia) – Low Flying Kenyan fighter Jets spotted over the stronghold coastal town of Kismayo, 500 Km away south of Mogadishu, forcing the rebels of Al-shabab to flee from their positions in the town in fear of aerial bombardments.

According to locals who spoke to Keydmedia English News via phone and said two Kenyan warplanes started flying over the town, especially the harbor and Airport on Thursday morning and the Al-shabab militias began to vacate from their bases from the city.

“About 1:00 a.m. we saw our eyes two Kenyan jets flying over the town. They did not fire but it sparked fear to the local Residents, because they afraid they will be victims if the planes strike Al-Shabaab targets in the town,” a resident in Kismayu told Keydmedia English News.

Last year air strikes by Kenyan militaryt hit Al-Shabaab-held Jilib town and its surrounding villages in Lower Jubba region of southern Somalia, reportedly killing many innocent civilians, among displaced at IDP camps and Al-shabab fighters.
