Pro-Somali-Somaliland talks demonstration in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia (Keydmedia) - Hundreds of demonstrators, including women and children, took on Friday to the streets of Mogadishu, to show their support for the ongoing Somalia-Somaliland talks.

These protesters were mostly Mogadishu residents who streamed their way to the Koonis football stadium, as they were waving the blue Somali national flag. Security forces were lined on the streets nearby the scene of the demonstration.

Banadir provincial administrators for Somali government were responsible for organizing the demonstrations that took place in Mogadishu on Friday at around 2:00 pm local time.

Some of the officials who took part in this demonstration include the provincial commissioner of Banaadir who is also the mayor of Mogadishu, the acting minister of defense as well as the 16 district officers in Banadir province.

After the arrival of the demonstrators in the football ground several Somali politicians addressed the crowd, who told the demonstrators that positive results is expected from both conferences held in London and Dubai.

The demonstration wrapped up in a peaceful manner and no incident took place that caused panic as the security was quite tightened.
