Puntland state located in northeastern Somalia sees the latest talks between PM Roble and opposition presidential candidates as a meaningful step toward the resolution of the current electoral standoff.
GAROWE, Somalia - Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has reiterated that his government will no longer have the need to attend the conference called by Farmajo whose term outdated unless conditions are met -- urging the international community to take the matter into their hands.
“Puntland shows great concerns about the ruling president who overstays in power by taking the demands and the will of the people upon himself with no clue at all,” said Deni in the statement.

In a lengthy statment, Puntland said it is committed to taking part in any meeting aimed at bringing the sides together in order to reach an inclusive pact on free and fair election as the country missed the poll deadline in Dec 2020.
Puntland suggests that the talks should be held in a UN Office in Halane base camp next to Aden Abdulle International Airport and AMISOM taking the lead to ensure and maintain the security of the leaders.
The two states, Jubaland and Puntland formed an alliance to confront Farmajo who wants to rule beyond his mandate expired on Feb. 8 with the opposition blaming him for plotting a bloodless coup to remain in office.
