Puntland leader arrives in Mogadishu with security team

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The leader of Somalia’s northeastern region of Puntland Said Abdullahi Deni has landed in Mogadishu on Saturday for talks between the Federal States and the central government.

Special forces armed with machine guns and RPGs arrived in the capital early in the day ahead of President Deni's arrival to take care of his security during his stay.

Jubaland leader Ahmed Madobe’s security guards did the same at the airport in what could be a military parade by the two allied regional presidents who are at loggerheads with Farmajo over the election.

This is an indication that there is huge mistrust deeply rooted inside the country's political leaders in terms of security after Farmajo used SNA to attack his predecessors last month.

Mogadishu is set to host a meeting aimed at ending differences over the electoral process organized by the International Partners. It will take place at the Afisyoni near the airport.
