Roadside Bomb kills Three Puntland Soldiers

GALKA’YO, Somalia (Keydmedia) - At least three soldiers under Somalia’s Puntland state were killed and many more others, including civilians injured in a huge land-mine bomb explosion occurred on Wednesday in northern divided Galka’yo town, central Somalia, Keydmedia reports.

Eyewitnesses told Keydmedia English News by the telephone that the explosion went off at Garsoor village, the northern part of Galka’yo as the forces attempted to defuse the Bomb early on Wednesday.

“I heard a loud bang of blast that rocked the entire village, Garsoor that straddles between Puntland and Galmudug states this morning and three Puntland soldiers dead on the spot and six people, mostly nearby civilians sustained wounds,” a witness told Keydmedia English News.

Security forces reportedly carry out search operations after the blast, but no arrests were accounted so far. 

No group has claimed the responsibility for the explosion. Galka’yo, the capital of Mudug region has been the scene of armed conflicts between rival political and clan factions in the past few years.
