Somali army chief slams the two ex-Presidents and PM remarks

MOGADISHU, Somalia - General Odowa Yusuf Rage, the Chief of the Somali Armed Forces sentimentally degraded the two ex-Presidents Hassan Sheikh and Sheikh Sharif as well as the last Somali PM Khaire calling respected figures who eventually ruined their reputation in politics.

Rage argued that any politic that refrains the national army from getting involved in any form of operations regardless of impunity and ensuring the right of every citizen to practice his freedom of thought and expression can no longer be a politic in an interview.

“If the acting executive and legislative need to be reached out by the military, its an obligatory duty that we must act,” he said. “No matter, who is in charge; it's time to take up.”

He reiterated that what happened on 19 February remains merely a mystery surprisingly denying that none of the ex-leaders were attacked and others fired as they were peacefully marching the streets demanding free and inclusive elections to take place in the country.

He described ex-Presidents as leaders with impure thoughts and that, meddling into politics by the military is a matter of necessity in the meantime.

Gen Odowaa came to light in the national army in August 2018 after the outgoing President sacked most of the leading figures in the military ascending to major general before leading the Somali armed forces at 32.
