Somali president embarks a 3-day visit to Uganda

MOGADISHU, Somalia - The President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has today left for Uganda, after receiving an official invitation from his counterpart Yoweri Museveni.

Mohamud, who is on a three-day visit to Kampala, will meet with Museveni to discuss bilateral relations between Somalia and Uganda and the enhancement of security cooperation.

The President will participate in the Somalia-Uganda economic forum that will bring together business leaders and economic experts to analyze business cooperation and investment.

Hassan Sheikh and Museveni are expected to look into the current crisis and the stability of the Horn of Africa region. Somalia has been at war with Al-Shabaab for over a decade.

Uganda has the largest number of troops in the AU mission [ATMIS] that is battling Al-Shabaab in Somalia since 2007 and is a key partner in the security. Both countries faced terrorist attacks.
