MOGADISHU (KON) - During a pre-dawn security operation in Mogadishu, Somali police backed by African Union troops have seized cache of firearms and ammunition thought to belong to Al-Shabaab militants, KON reports.

The weapons were found buried in a big car garage at Si-piano area in Hodon district in the west of the town on Sunday morning following a tip-off by locals to Somali police, according to  Somali national security ministry spokesman, Mohamed Yusuf Osman.

He said the haul including AK47 riffles, several deadly general-purpose machine guns or PKM, pistols and rounds of ammunition was found in packed sacks buried in separate sites within the garage which is belonged to the departed EX-lawmaker, Osman Atto.
