Somali president: “Deadly Theater blast was a faulty for the Government.”

MOGADISHU, Somalia (Keydmedia) - Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed, the president of Somalia’s Transitional Federal Government (TFG), shed light on how Wednesday’s deadly suicide explosion in the seaside capital, Mogadishu, killing 6 people, including the country’s top sports officials.

While speaking at a press conference held in palace Sunday, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed stated: “it was the careless of the information ministry for TFG which did not provide improved security assurance to the Government senior officials and as well as the honorable guests at the ceremony in the theater.”

Mr. Ahmed said that the security agencies of Somali government were not informed to the groundwork and preparation of the National Theater occasion, by the Ministry of information. He added, “The organizers have been asked to draw the invited guests of the ceremony which was held to mark the first anniversary of Somali national television, but it did not responded.”

“According the law, security agencies of the government should be aware of any episode like the one in national theater to avert attacks and assassinations against officials and civilians by Al-shabab rebels,” he added. 

“Today Al Qaeda is trying to use whatever it can to carry out such cruel deadly attack against the innocent people of Somalia in the famine-ridden country. Really, the invitations provided to participants were over numbered and unlimited. I saw MP holding 10 invitation cards. I asked myself if the matter goes like this how the security could be assured,” said Somali presidents.

This comments followed after a female suicide attacker killed on Wednesday lat weekend at least six people, including the president of Somalia’s Olympic associations and the chairman of football federation, wounding more 30, most of them journalist in the newly reopened national Theater in Mogadishu.
