Somalia journalist shot dead in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia (Keydmedia) — unidentified gunmen shot dead a Somali radio station director in the disordered Somalia capital, Mogadishu on Tuesday evening.

Witnesses said the attackers killed Somaliweyn radio director Abukar Hassan Kadaf on Tuesday as he trying to go into in Mogadishu’s Wadjir district. Mr. Kadaf died instantly on the scene after being shot in front of his home.

No group has claimed the responsibility for his murder so far.

Abukar Hassan Kadaf was the managing director of Somaliweyn radio station that was looted by masked militants from the Al-Shabab group in 2010.

Attacks on journalists are common in war-ravaged Somalia. Another radio journalist was killed in January 28 in this year 2012 in the same district.

Three journalists were killed last year, and there have been numerous attacks against journalist working in Mogadishu. Abukar Hassan Kadaf became the 29th journalist to be killed in Somalia since 2007

Somalia is the most dangerous country to be a journalist in the world.
