MOGADISHU, Somalia - The Defense Minister of Somalia, Hassan Hussein Haji who spoke about the recent operations the National Army conducted in some parts of Galmudug State has applauded the significant progress made in the war against the militants.

The government troops have seized large stronghold areas of al-Shabab on Wednesday morning with the army carrying out massive operations in the surrounding countryside of Dhusamareb two days ago as well.

Speaking to the Armed Forces Radio – a state-owned media, the Minister has praised the commendable achievements the army gained in the fight of al-Shabab proudly saying that they combat, bleed, and die for our freedom and sovereignty and called on the citizens to take their side to ensure the group’s days numbered.

The al-Qaida-linked militant group has recently launched attacks on military bases on many occasions including Aw-dhegle and Bariire whom they stormed before engaging in a bitter battle with the Somali National Army.

The war is reportedly the worst battle for the militants as they lost a large number of fatalities to the armed forces but, security experts, believe that the militants will regroup themselves to retaliate soon.
