Suicide car bomb rattles Somali capital, kills 13 people

MOGADISHU, Somalia (Keymedia) - A suicide car bomb exploded near a hotel in Somali capital Mogadishu, killing at least 13 people while injured more than that number, witnesses said.

The blast rattled in a café at the hotel in central Mogadishu and killed at least 13 people and wounded 40 others among MPs and civilians who were passers-by.

When the car blew up at backward of Muna hotel of flame and smoke and flames engulfed the whole area, then some wounded people ran through the streets and hundreds of on-lookers gathered to see the demolished car scattered across the road.

Several body parts littered the street.

This is the latest attack that has raised fears among civilians who say Al-Shabab rebels are targeting everyone, not just government officials and Amisom in Mogadishu.

Troops from Somali government and AMISOM have reached soon after the incident at the scene and began operations to find out the mastermind of the explosion.

Al-shabab rebels have claimed the responsibility of the blast, saying it has killed many TFP lawmakers.
