Keydmedia English News correspondent in Mogadishu, who traveled to the liberated area, says this is for the first time Somalia and African Union forces to seize an area outside the capital from the rebel group of Al-Shabab.

General Abdikarin Yusuf Aden (Dhagabadan),a TFG military commander, told reporters in the liberated area from the insurgents that the allied forces have managed on Friday to capture the area of Galgalato, 30km north-east of Mogadishu, where Al-shabab fighters have been using as a military camp to organize guerilla-style attacks.

Al-Shabab, which controls several regions in south and central Somalia, is facing increasing military pressure from TFG supporting by regional forces who gained many territories in the country since earlier this year when the rebels announced that they had merged with Al-Qaeda.
