Turkey has denied al-Shabab’s allegations about Ankara’s involvement in a recent operation by the US Navy’s special operation forces in Somalia.

“We deny these allegations completely," a Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman said in an interview on Sunday.

Al-Shabab spokesman, Abdulaziz Abu Musab, had claimed that the “failed” assault had been led by Britain and Turkey.

The UK has also refused claims about its role in the operation.

On Saturday, a group of US Navy Sea, Air, Land Teams (SEALs) carried out a pre-dawn raid on a senior al-Shabab commander
