WASHINGTON, USA - The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is on a visit to the United States, met with top White House officials on Thursday and Friday to discuss partnership and cooperation on the security and the fight against Al-Shabaab.

The president held discussions with the National Security Adviser to the President of the United States, Jake Sullivan, and other officials from the White House who are in charge of security affairs.

The meeting discussed the relationship between the two countries, especially in the field of security.

A statement from the White House said that the United States encouraged Hassan Sheikh to give priority the political reconciliation and closer cooperation with the Federal States to work together on national issues and the goals of the country.

Sullivan and Mohamud also talked about the importance of improving good governance, law enforcement, service delivery, and security.
