MOGADISHU, Somalia - The US military has ramped up drone strikes in Somalia after Biden approved the resumption of the counterterrorism operations in the Horn of Africa which is home for Al-Qaeda branch in East Africa.

The latest airstrike was reported in the vacinty of Awdhegle town in Lower Shabelle region which is bordering with the capital, Mogadishu.

It's unknown the figures of the casualties resulted from the US operation targeting Al-Shabaab.

This becomes the 5th airstrike in Somalia by US military within this month in what shows a dramatic increase of the campaign against Al-Shabaab.

Two days ago, 13 Al-Shabaab members were killed in an airstrike near Beledweyne City in Central Somalia in response to ambush on SN.

Biden restored US troops in Somalia after Trump pulled them out shortly before he left the white House last year.
