Woman With Gun Enters Charlotte TV Station (Watch Video)

Washington (keydmedia) - The 5 p.m. news broadcast of a Charlotte, N.C., television station was cut short today when a woman with a gun entered the building and put the gun to her head.

A police SWAT team surrounded the WSOC-TV station, according to reports, and after a brief standoff, she was taken into custody.

WSOC is an ABC affiliate.

According to WSOC, police were called after the woman pulled out a gun and put it to her head, but police later learned that the gun was not loaded.

The station went to black during the incident, but was back on the air just after 6 p.m.

"Not on air. Distraught woman with gun in lobby. Police have building surrounded. Employees evacuated," WSOC-TV anchor Blair Miller tweeted from inside the station.

Another producer tweeted that all of the newsroom employees had been evacuated to a back lot.

"Evacuation happened approx. 5:05 during my show," producer Katie tweeted.
