The inauguration ceremony was attended by Somali PM Hamza Abdi Barre, Kenya's defense minister Aden Barre Duale, some of the cabinet, MPs, and the mayor of Mogadishu.
The visit by Barre came following an invitation from Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed. It’s unclear if the agenda of the invitation comes at a time Somalia is at war with the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab.

Turkey, a key partner in Somalia is also expected to airlift some of the critically wounded people to Istanbul for advanced media treatment, according to the country's minister of health Ali Haji.
Somalia has thanked Djibouti for its unwavering support and the sacrifice of its peacekeepers in the country who are part of the AU mission.
He has been in power since 1999, making him one of Africa's longest-serving leaders.
