The country's PM Mohamed Hussein Roble said the parliamentary election will end by December this year after months of delays in the voting exercise. 

The election saw the worst crisis after leaders failed to hold it on the agreed timetable several times this year, throwing the country into uncertainty. 

The suspension came after the commission received a complaint from incumbent Hussein Arab Isse, and instructed the poll body to wait until a final decision comes out in 7 business days.

The Lower House chamber consists of 275 seats which make the legislative branch of the country. The time has come for Somalia to finalize the parliamentary election. 

The Somaliland election was reportedly marred by vote-buying and irregularities as Somalia gears up to the much-awaited Lower House ballot.

The senate candidates, including Abdi Hashi and Prof Abdi Ismail Samatar who teaches at a university in the US, addressed the electoral delegates gathered in Afisyoni tent on Tuesday.

The opposition candidates, civil society groups, and politicians from northern regions [Somaliland] have opposed the new Lower House election procedures. 

Officials at the Ministry of Finance who spoke to KON on condition of anonymity denied that there was a two-month salary arrear, saying that only in July some civil servants did not receive their dues.

The leaders of the Federal Government and regional states have been in deadlock over the electoral process for months before reaching a deal on May 27.

Ali Sheikh Mohamud Ga’al won the second seat with 68 votes against his opponent Abdulkadir Ali Ahmed, who received 22 votes. One vote became invalid.

Abdi Hakim Moalim Ahmed, who has been a member of the Lower House for the past four years now moved to the Upper House after winning the seat with no challenge.

Ilyas Badal Gaboose became the first Senator elected to the Upper House chamber of Somalia's 11th parliament.
