Somali leaders signed an electoral deal on May 27 following talks that ended months of political turmoil in the country.
The outgoing president Farmajo won the 2017 election after receiving millions of US dollars from Qatar through Fahad Yasin, a former Al Jazeera journalist currently serving as spy head.
One seat in parliament was bought for $ 1 million during the 2016 house poll by the owner of one of the airlines operating in Somalia, breaking a record of election corruption in Africa, maybe across the world.
The election will pave the way for the election of the Lower House which will take place on Wednesday, April 27.
Somaliland claims it seceded from the rest of Somalia in 1991 and has nothing to do with elections in Mogadishu.
The outgoing Somali Federal Government is set to hold troubled national elections by the end of July 2021.
The leaders of the five regional states in Somalia and the PM are expected to hold key talks in Mogadishu, in the latest attempt to iron out the long-running electoral deadlock.
