President Sheikh Mohamud conveyed his greetings and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Crown Prince, and to the government and people of Saudi Arabia.
This promises to be a unique event, as Saudi Arabia officially reopened its embassy in the capital Mogadishu, since the collapse of the military regime led by Gen. Said Barre in 1991.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry applauded the efforts of the Somali government to facilitate the procedures of reopening the embassy in its capital Mogadishu.
The meeting was expected to kick off in Mogadishu on Thursday, August 19 but postponed after the leaders received an invitation from Suadi Arabia.
More than 300 others were wounded in the attack, said Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in a video statement posted on his official Twitter account.
