The country has been trying to recover from three decades of conflict and lawlessness before Farmajo came to power in 2017.

After his tenure expired in early 2021, Farmajo is facing uncertainty surrounding his re-election bid as close allies are currently turning into foes. 

The relationship between the two leaders has strained over the dismissal of senior Intelligence agency officials close to the office of the president.

The rally comes a day after Al-Shabaab carried out a deadly attack on a key military base in Amara village located in the southern part of the Mudug region.
